Important: The Marine Basic First Aid program is not a water-safety or boat-safety course. This course focuses on First Aid and CPR and follows the same curriculum as the Standard First Aid program, with the addition that it is endorsed by Transport Canada.

Toronto First Aid is proud to be a leader in offering the Marine Basic First Aid Training & CPR/AED Blended program. This course follows the same curriculum as the Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C program, with the addition that it is endorsed by Transport Canada. This course focuses on first aid skills and is not designed as a water safety course. 

This is a basic two day course (8 hours online and 8 hours in-class) offering an overview of first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for the marine / fishing industry.  This course meets the requirements of Transport Canada outlined in the Transport Publication (TP) 13008 E.  It is designed for any person who wants to obtain a rating certificate or endorsement or a Master or Chief Mate limited certification or is the person providing first aid on board a vessel engaged on a near-coastal voyage, class 2, or sheltered waters.  This course covers skills needed to recognize, prevent, and respond to circulation emergencies (CPR level C).  The course uses scenarios taken from the marine fishing industry.

Requirements for completion:

  • Completion of Red Cross online course
  • 100% attendance
  • Grade of 80% on the written test
  • Grade of 80% on the practical test

Upon completion participants will receive:

  • 3 Year Certification in Marine Basic First Aid
  • Transport Canada Certification in Marine Basic First Aid

Duration: 16 hours (6-8 hours online + 8 hours in-class)
